The research project aims to provide a comprehensive, data-driven analysis of the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) within Italy’s national system over the period 2025–2030. The primary aim is to move beyond general discussions about the potential of AI, and to provide a detailed, sector-by-sector quantification of its impact on productivity, competitiveness, and national security.
The project is structured around three main objectives:
Quantify the economic benefits and productivity gains. A detailed analysis was carried out to assess the expected economic impact of adopting AI within Italy’s national system over the period in question.
Identify high-impact AI applications. The project identifies and analyses AI-based applications and use cases with the greatest transformative potential in Italy’s public and private sectors.
Assess the associated risks in terms of security and public policy. The project offers a comprehensive assessment of the security and regulatory risks associated with the widespread adoption of AI in Italy.
